As wedding season is here, I can’t help but truly think about the main tips that highlight your wedding day. The photographer on your special day plays a huge role in capturing your memories, which is why I am here to share 10 tips to INCREDIBLE wedding photos!
1) Let loose and enjoy yourself.
Your wedding day might be a little
stressful. However, try not to forget to focus on the BIG picture of
the happiest day of your life! Little details can always be arranged
by people in your bridal party.
2) Create a photo list.
I always send out a questionnaire prior to your
wedding date but creating this list is so important. This is the one day we
really can’t recreate and I want to ensure I give you all the memories.
3) Bring along an extra wedding invitation!
Those pretty detail shots are so
fun to make but they’re extra special when I can capture your wedding
invitation. The odds are you spent a good chunk of money on them and a
photo lasts a lifetime.
4) Share your details with your photographers:
I want to make sure I am
in the exact spot I need to be to capture guest reactions. Do you have a
groom’s cake coming out? I want to be READY to capture your new
hubby’s reaction. Some of those details can’t go into the timeline so don’t
forget to let me know directly.
5) Make it extra personal.
If you have any family heirlooms I want to
capture you with them. It is so special to have a bride wearing a
grandmother’s necklace or tying a special charm to her bouquet, and
I most certainly want to capture as many of those details as possible.
6) Do a few first looks!
Even if you aren’t doing a first look with your
spouse to be, we can still arrange for a few other first looks. I think it’s
really fun to do them with your bridesmaids. Have the ladies get dressed a
few minutes before you so that when you walk out they are also ready to
go! There is also nothing like doing a first look with your dad or any father
figure in your life. I always keep tissues on hand, because it is just such a
sweet moment.
7) Don’t forget that golden glow!
It’s no surprise the golden hour is called what it is. A huge tip to incredible wedding photos is the LIGHTING.
Whether it be for bride and groom portraits, or photos with your guests,
I always encourage my couples to take advantage of the gorgeous natural light
on their special day.
8) Remember to be in the moment:
I love the portraits (seriously, love them so much) as well as posed
photos, but I also want to capture the moments you don’t even know are
happening. When your new spouse wipes a tear from your eye during a
speech – I want to capture that. When you are giggling together during
your first dance – I REALLY want to capture that.
9) Eat and drink things on your wedding day.
A wedding day is a long long long day and sometimes for my warm
weather brides, it can be hot! Be sure to eat and hydrate with water as well
as mimosas. It will help you keep your energy up so you are ready to
dance the night away!
10) Go with a photographer you love.
You are going to spend so much of
your wedding day with me. Your photographer is your second hand on your wedding day.
You should want to laugh with me and cry in front of
me. I adore weddings and truly love my couples. Go with the vendor you
want to be with all day and whose work you adore.
